Day 2: Longji Terraces
Located in Longsheng County, about two hours from Guilin, the Longji Terraces are a breathtaking masterpiece of agricultural engineering and natural beauty. Carved into steep mountainsides over centuries by the Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups, the terraces resemble giant dragon scales cascading down the slopes, hence the name "Dragon's Backbone." The landscape changes dramatically with the seasons: filled with water in spring, lush green in summer, golden with ripe rice in autumn, and occasionally dusted with snow in winter. Beyond the stunning views, the area offers immersive cultural experiences—visit traditional villages, experience ethnic customs, and taste local delicacies. A hike through the terraces reveals not only awe-inspiring vistas but also the profound harmony between human ingenuity and nature.
